Ashland Summer Sparkler 8-Year-Old Invitational Tournament

Ashland Youth Baseball & Softball hosts a summer tournament for 8 year olds. Many of the teams that participate are from towns that also participate in the Tondorf and Sizzler tournaments in Medway and Hopkinton. This is a fun tournament which, for many kids that will go on to make their towns' Tondorf teams, gives the players their first experience with competitive baseball.

The tournament dates have not been finalized but we anticipate that games will begin the week of June 11th and playoffs will conclude sometime the week of July 9th. Teams play three to four games per week, and there may also be one to two practices per week. This league uses patched umpires.

Raiders Select (Tondorf)

Dover Sherborn Raiders Select Baseball is for advanced players in each of four age groups (ages 9-12) interested in playing competitive baseball against the top teams from other area towns.  These four teams represent DS at the Tondorf Tournament, which usually begins the week before Father's day and concludes in the second or third week of July.  During the season, there will usually be four games per week plus either one or two practices.  Playoffs occur for all divisions. In addition to the Tondorf Tournament, the four Raiders Select teams will play in the Nora Searle Classic which will occur the evening of Saturday June 9th.

This highly competitive program imposes the following guidelines:

·         A commitment to playing the entire season is expected.

·         All Raiders Select players must participate in DS town baseball games (spring league).

Most Tondorf tournament games are played in Medway, although occasional games may be played in other towns that participate in the tournament. Thus, travel to fields located within about 30 minutes of Dover or Sherborn should be expected.

Tryouts are conducted at each age level (age parameters listed above). Players can play up but cannot play down. After our tryouts, our coaches and evaluators meet to determine if Raiders Select is the program that will provide each participant the best summer baseball experience. The 2018 tryout for Raiders Select (Tondorf) teams is tentatively set for Sunday, May 13th, at Jameson-1 field in Sherborn.

Players not chosen for Raiders Select are welcome to register for the Sizzler Team.

Hopkinton Sizzler Tournament

The Hopkinton Sizzler Baseball Program is for advanced players in two age groups, 9-10 year olds and 11-12 year olds. Many of the teams that participate are from towns that also participate in the Tondorf and Sparkler tournaments in Medway and Ashland. The Sizzler schedule has not yet been finalized, but will likely mirror the Sparkler and Tondorf Tournament schedules (ie, being the week before Father’s Day and end by mid-July). Players should expect to usually play four games per week and have one or two practices per week.

To be eligible for the Sizzler team, a player must play spring baseball in Dover-Sherborn.

Lou Tompkins Summer Baseball League

The Lou Tompkins All Star Baseball League is organized for the purpose of promoting the game of baseball through organized competition. IN order to balance the competition, the League has established four divisions (Senior Division for 17-21 year olds, A-Division for 15-16 year olds, B-Division for 14 year olds, and C-Division for 13 year olds). Dover-Sherborn will field appropriate teams depending upon the number of and ages of players interested. There are no tryouts for Lou Tompkins - everyone who wishes to play is eligible.

Details about the schedule for Lou Tompkins are still pending.
